What does it mean to really “go there” as an actor? In this high-energy, hands-on workshop, young performers will learn how to move beyond just saying lines and begin truly living in the world of the story. Through engaging exercises, guided scene work, and real-time coaching, students will explore how to make bold choices, connect emotionally, and fully commit to each moment on stage. This workshop is designed to help young actors grow in confidence, creativity, and focus—while learning how to listen, respond, and bring characters to life in a truthful and compelling way. Jeff Martinez is an award-winning director, producer, and educator with more than 25 years of experience in theater and performing arts education, having directed and produced over 70 productions across Southern California and Tennessee. A creative leader within CYT Nashville and recipient of the 2025 CYT National Award for Excellence in Artistic Leadership, Jeff is known for elevating young performers by treating them with professional-level expectations and fostering rehearsal rooms built on discipline, respect, and creative trust. His directing philosophy, captured in his signature invitation, “go there with us”, challenges students to fully invest in storytelling with courage and authenticity. In addition to directing, Jeff mentors emerging artists through classes, workshops, and elite training programs, often collaborating with his wife, choreographer and educator Clara Martinez, to develop meaningful and high-level theatrical experiences. He holds a BA in Communications with an emphasis in Drama from Azusa Pacific University and lives in Tennessee with his family.
