Description

Think of your favorite Broadway show. It is very likely that part of why the show you just thought of is so great is because of the choreographed movement in the musical numbers that bring the story to life through rhythm and dance as well as powerful artistic visuals that allow the audience to go on a journey of emotions. Creating this choreography involves more than just dance knowledge. In fact, some songs can be choregraphed well without any technical dance training at all. In this class, we will explore the art of creating choreography as a story-telling tool and specifically how to create moving and powerful visual pictures through musical theater movement. Students will learn how to research and understand a story and get the opportunity to translate that understanding into an artistic telling of human emotion through musical theater choreography!

I work as an elementary school bookkeeper for Williamson County Schools during the day and love my incredible side gig at CYT where I get to use my passion for Musical Theater to teach and grow the next generation! I am a wife and mother of 2. Both my kids have found a home at CYT and I am forever grateful.
