Class Description

“Bit by bit, putting it together! “ This is the class that combines the three elements of musical theatre: voice, dance and acting.  Be a part of the wonderful world of musical theatre by exploring storytelling choreography, vocal interpretations and how to create a character. Class will include warm-ups, group activities, dance routines, theatre games and performance. Skills to be covered include: basic vocal/physical warm-up techniques, creating stage pictures with dance and song, group activities and exercises that incorporate the body and voice, basic dance steps often incorporated into musical theatre choreography, telling a story through facial expressions, voice and dance, performing a musical show tune with a group or ensemble musical theatre number from start to finish while beginning to show signs of confidence, focus, energy, and stage presence.

Kelby Wenger

Kelby Wenger considers herself at home on the stage. At the ripe age of four, she fell in love with the musical “My Fair Lady,” and by 7th grade, she could be found singing every vocal part of “Les Miserables” by memory (her parents have never forgiven themselves for buying her that 4-disc karaoke set). Having spent the last five years of her spare time singing in the Nashville Symphony Chorus, performing in an improv group, and donning a variety of wigs and accents for many of Nashville’s community theaters, she’s excited to join the CYT community! Kelby has ten years of experience working in church settings teaching groups of children, and can’t wait to combine a few of her favorite things here at CYT.
