Description

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of acting through exploration of core performances styles and techniques. Designed for beginners, the class emphasizes creativity, confidence-building, collaboration, and foundational acting skills in a supportive and structured environment. Students will also explore basic theatrical terms used in theatre spaces and utilizing an actor's toolbox.

Amani Johnson

Born and raised in Nashville, Amani debuted in the theater during his junior year in High School. He is currently a graduate student at Lipscomb University studying a Master's in Fine Arts in screenwriting. He graduated with an associate's degree in Theatre Arts at Volunteer State Community College before getting his bachelor's (Film) at Middle Tennessee State University (Minor in Theatre). He commenced his teaching journey as a teaching artist intern at Nashville Children's Theatre, into discovering passion for theatre arts education. He's done some professional work, including background characters for the Nashville 9-1-1 series, film sets, and performing in local shows with American Immerison Theater. He continues to network with the Film/Theatre community in the Nashville area and hopes to grow more as a teaching artist!
