Class Description

Since the Golden Age, popular music has had an impact and often times given new life to the stage. Classic rock, disco pop, and rock 'n roll gave Broadway new genres of its own, and with that a collection of classic songs. In this class, we will review and explore the pop rock influence in musicals, and sing through an amended anthology. From folk rock numbers in Godspell to jukebox scores in Rock of Ages, we will cover a variety of musical styles and feature a medley at showcase. If you're into singing, and learning a bit of history, this class if for you!

Peter Horecka

A 2017 graduate of the Lutheran affiliated Gustavus Adolphus College (St. Peter, MN), I am currently a freelance Audio Engineer in the greater Nashville area. Growing up in Franklin with current CYT Leadership Team member Elise Horecka, I spent my childhood performing with the Starbright and Pulltight community theatre programs, developing a passion for musical theatre and performance. After a quick, two-year stint playing junior hockey in central Canada, I spent the next four years at Gustavus, earning a degree in Communication Studies while also studying vocal performance and performing with the premier concert choir. Joining CYT Nashville is an exciting opportunity as I get to rekindle my passion for musical theatre and performance with the bright, talented young performers here in my hometown. Looking forward to a fun ride!
