In musical theater, characters don’t sing to perform, they sing because speaking is no longer enough. Acting with Authenticity trains teen performers to act their way into music by grounding songs in truth, intention, and story. The class begins with a brief audition and casting process, giving students real-world experience and allowing instructors to build balanced ensembles. Through scene study, lyric analysis, emotional escalation, and ensemble choreography, students learn how dialogue transforms into fully realized musical moments. The repertoire includes music from In the Heights and Les Misérables. The course culminates in a showcase featuring fully acted scenes that transition seamlessly into choreographed Broadway numbers.
