Class Description

Can you believe this? Anyone can put on a costume and play a part, but there’s a lot more to acting if you’re going to make the audience believe it! Come find out the basics to complexity in this acting foundations class, where you will learn to portray and express a dynamic character with little to no character description. Rather, we will use the context of fun and dynamic scenes to turn reacting into acting. We'll cover principles in character development, body movement and expression, and timing. We will also spend time collaborating with the teen acting class!

Peter Horecka

A 2017 graduate of the Lutheran affiliated Gustavus Adolphus College (St. Peter, MN), I am currently a freelance Audio Engineer in the greater Nashville area. Growing up in Franklin with current CYT Leadership Team member Elise Horecka, I spent my childhood performing with the Starbright and Pulltight community theatre programs, developing a passion for musical theatre and performance. After a quick, two-year stint playing junior hockey in central Canada, I spent the next four years at Gustavus, earning a degree in Communication Studies while also studying vocal performance and performing with the premier concert choir. Joining CYT Nashville is an exciting opportunity as I get to rekindle my passion for musical theatre and performance with the bright, talented young performers here in my hometown. Looking forward to a fun ride!
